In this tutorial, you'll learn how to perform an oil flush for the Premier oil pump, which is an essential maintenance task to ensure your freeze dryer operates efficiently.
Tools needed:
- Bucket for draining oil
- Measuring cup
- Funnel
- Fresh vacuum pump oil
Steps
- Preparation: Ensure the pump is turned off and unplugged from the freeze dryer, then plug it directly into a wall outlet.
- Drain old oil: Empty the old oil from the pump into a bucket designated for oil disposal.
- Add new oil: Using a funnel, add two cups of new oil into the pump.
- Flush the system: Turn the pump on for five seconds and then off for five seconds. Repeat this process ten times. This action helps to circulate the new oil and loosen any moisture or debris inside the pump.
- Drain and refill: After the flush, drain the oil again as it may appear cloudy or dirty from the flushing process. Refill the pump with fresh oil, making sure the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks.
- Finalize the setup: Once the oil appears clear, indicating a successful flush, reconnect the pump to your freeze dryer. Ensure the on switch is turned on for the freeze dryer operation and you're ready to start a new batch.
