This video shows how to troubleshoot, reset, and test the heat system if an error or heater failure occurred on your freeze dryer.
Resetting and Testing Heat System on Your Freeze Dryer
Tools Needed:
- Screwdriver or similar item
Steps:
- Identify the problem: Pay attention to whether the shelving unit’s heat feature in your freeze dryer is functioning properly. Signs of malfunction could be seen through an error code, heater failure message, or simply noticing it’s not heating up as it should.
- Remove the Door Gasket: Open the freeze dryer’s door, remove the door gasket temporarily and place it on top of the freeze dryer.
- Remove the Shelving Rack: Extract the shelving rack from the freeze dryer.
- Unplug and check the Wire Connectors: Disconnect the wire connectors and perform a “tug test” by tugging on each wire to ensure they are all secured and not loose. If a wire is loose, reinsert it back into the plastic connector piece to reestablish a secure connection. Reconnect the wire connectors afterwards.
- Press the Reset Button: Notice the small hole located at the back of your shelving rack. Use any household item (as long as it fits through the hole, in this case, a screwdriver is used) to press the reset button inside.
- Test the Heat System: Reinstall the shelving rack into the freeze dryer. Go on the freeze dryer’s functional testing screen and press the heater button to turn on the heat. Monitor the tray temperature, it should start to increase. When it reaches about 90 degrees, touch each of your orange heater pads to verify that they are becoming warm. If they are, you’ve successfully fixed the heater issue.
- Further Support: If the tray temperature doesn’t increase or the heater pads aren’t warming up, contact customer support for assistance.
