We have the standard vacuum pump. We have changed the oil regularly, but there is debris coating the oil level window. It is becoming more difficult to see the appropriate oil level. Wondering what you would recommend? Is there an easy way to clean this or get excess debris out of the oil chamber.

To clean the inside of the oil reservoir in the standard vacuum pump, you will need to remove it from the pump. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Start by draining the oil from the pump according to the instructions in the manual.
  2. Once the oil is drained, locate the screws or bolts that secure the oil reservoir to the pump.
  3. Carefully remove these screws or bolts to detach the reservoir from the pump.
  4. With the reservoir removed, you can clean the inside using a cloth or paper towel to remove any debris or residue.
  5. If necessary, you can also use a small brush or pipe cleaner to reach into the corners and crevices of the reservoir.
  6. Once the reservoir is clean, reattach it to the pump and secure it with the screws or bolts.
  7. Refill the pump with fresh oil, ensuring it is filled to the appropriate level as indicated in the sight glass.
  8. Finally, run a dry vacuum test to ensure the pump is functioning properly.
