To clean the inside of the oil reservoir on your Standard or Premier vacuum pump, you’ll need to remove the reservoir from the pump. Follow these simple steps:
What You’ll Need
- Cloth or paper towel
- Small brush or pipe cleaner (optional)
- Fresh vacuum pump oil
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Drain the Oil
- Start by draining the oil from your pump. Follow the instructions in your manual to do this safely.
- Remove the Reservoir
- Find the screws or bolts that hold the oil reservoir to the pump.
- Carefully unscrew and remove them to detach the reservoir.

- Clean the Inside
- Use a cloth or paper towel to wipe away any debris or residue inside the reservoir.
- For hard-to-reach corners, use a small brush or pipe cleaner.
- Reattach the Reservoir
- Once the reservoir is clean, put it back onto the pump.
- Secure it with the screws or bolts you removed earlier.
- Refill with Fresh Oil
- Fill the pump with fresh oil. Make sure the oil level is correct by checking the sight glass (the clear window on the reservoir).
- Test the Pump
- Run a vacuum test to make sure your pump is working properly.
