New Oil Filter Tutorial

This video shows how to use the newly designed oil filter from Harvest Right. The filter functions very much like a Brita water filter but is specifically engineered to filter oil for the Harvest Right oil pumps.

The video takes us through step-by-step, from draining and filtering the oil to determining if the filtered oil can be reused or if new oil is required.

How to Use Harvest Right’s New Oil Filter

Tools Needed:

  • Premier oil pump or standard oil pump from Harvest Right
  • Harvest Right oil
  • New oil filter from Harvest Right
  • Replacement filter cartridges
  • Paper towels

Steps:

  1. Preparation: Identify the type of oil pump you’re using, either the standard oil pump (left in the video) or the premier oil pump (right in the video). The premier oil pump may come in different colors depending on the model.
  2. Draining the Oil: Open the oil filter and start draining the oil from the pump into the filter. The process will be easier and faster if the demister is open. Allow time for the oil to gradually drain through the filter.
  3. Checking the Filter: Examine the filter cartridge periodically. If it is no longer draining the oil efficiently and seems to be clogged, it is a sign that it needs to be replaced. Replacement filter cartridges are available from Harvest Right in packs of three.
  4. Filtering Process: Let the oil filter do its work. Be patient. You might need to let it sit for several hours depending on the state of the oil.
  5. Checking Filtered Oil: Once the oil has filtered completely, observe the quality of the filtered oil. If the oil is clean and clear, it can be returned to the pump. If not, it might require further separation or replacement.
  6. Returning the Oil: If the filtered oil is deemed reusable, pour it back into the pump slowly, ensuring the pump cap is securely closed.
  7. Topping up the Oil: Depending on your observation, use new oil to top off the pump to the appropriate level.
  8. Replacing the Cap: Put the demister and cap back on the pump, then it’s ready for another cycle!
  9. Maintenance reminder: Keep track of how often you filter the oil and the clarity of the oil after filtration to determine when to replace the filter cartridge. Replacement cartridges are available in packs of three from Harvest Right.

This process is applicable for both premier oil pump and the standard oil pump.
