All Harvest Right freeze dryers are designed, engineered, and tested in our manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our headquarters are located in North Salt Lake, about 10 miles from the Salt Lake City International airport.
March 18, 2020 started out like any other day at our offices, but quickly changed. That morning a 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck and the epicenter was only 20 miles away. Giant floor to ceiling shelving units in our warehouse swayed back and forth. Production halted while we checked for damage. It was the largest earthquake to occur in Utah in 28 years and the largest located so close to Salt Lake City.
Earthquakes strike suddenly, violently and without warning at any time of the year and at any time of the day or night. It is impossible to predict when and where an earthquake will occur. Several thousand shocks of varying sizes occur annually in the United States and 70 to 75 damaging earthquakes happen throughout the world each year. All 50 states and all U.S. territories are vulnerable to earthquakes. Luckily, the earthquake we experienced that day caused only a little damage and there were no casualties. But the experience did make us even more aware of how important it is to be prepared for any emergency.
One of the most important ways to be prepared is to have an emergency food supply. There is no better method of producing a food supply than with a Harvest Right freeze dryer. A freeze dryer allows you to preserve and add your leftovers, garden produce, and favorite meals to your emergency food supply. Freeze drying preserves almost all of the foods’ nutrients, while also keeping color and shape. It’s also easy to rehydrate freeze-dried food. All you have to do is just add water. The food tastes great and your family will enjoy eating it. While we don’t know when an earthquake will happen, we do know that having a Harvest Right freeze dryer will help anyone be better prepared for an earthquake or any other type of emergency.
Wish I bought on 2 years ago when I wanted to. That’s what happens when you listen to your wife !
Anyway, ordered one about 10 days, large size from a dealer in Ottawa, Canada.
Nervous question is, with all this going on, are you still making and shipping units ?
Yes, we are currently still building and shipping freeze dryers.
Thank you ! Every time I see an empty shelf in the store, I think “soon me and my family will be free of this anxiety”
Can not wait. I see a cottage industry to pay for it TOO !
Little nervous about the “currently” though
