6 Health Benefits from Eating Avocados

If you would like to lose weight, have strong bones, get sick less often, improve your skin, and lower your risk of cancer, diabetes and heart disease, you should eat more avocados.

These are just a few of the amazing health benefits of avocados:

Teeth & Bones
Avocados are rich in phosphorous, magnesium and manganese to help maintain bone health and reduce your risk for developing osteoporosis.

Skin, Hair & Nails
Avocados are packed with biotin, which helps protect our cells from damage. Vitamin A and E help skin and nail tissues re-build and keeps hair shiny and lustrous.

Immunity
Eating avocados increases the strength of pathogen-fighting cells by aiding in nutrient absorption. They are also a great source of glutathione, often called the “master” antioxidant.

Muscle Development
Avocados contain all 9 of the essential amino acids which are required for proper protein synthesis and promote healthy, strong muscles.

Digestion & Metabolism
The vitamin A found in avocados helps protect the epithelial cell lining in the GI tract and high fiber content keeps you regular, preventing diarrhea and constipation.

Cardiovascular
Avocados contain beta-sitosterol which lowers LDL (bad) cholesterol while raising HDL (good) cholesterol. This protects against strokes and regulates blood pressure.

Freeze Drying Avocados
Another benefit of avocados is that they can easily be freeze-dried. Avocados turn out great when freeze dried in a Harvest Right home freeze dryer. A freeze-dried avocado keeps it vibrant green color, size and (most importantly) almost all of its nutritional benefits. Many people love to eat freeze-dried avocados directly in their dry state, but they are also easy to rehydrate. Just spritz with water and wait a few minutes.

Others love to use freeze-dried avocados to make instant guacamole. Now you don’t have to wait until avocados are on sale to enjoy fresh guacamole. Buy avocados when they are a good deal, freeze dry them, and enjoy eating them when prices are high. Want to enjoy some guacamole while you are camping or at your next tailgate party? You could make it ahead and take it with you, but it will probably be a brown mess by the time you want to eat it. Or you could freeze dry it and just add water right before you want to eat it. The guacamole will taste amazingly fresh and it will be the green color you desire.

Question- You show a lot of these foods just in “Kerr” jars. Do they not need to be vacuum packed?

For long term storage use mylar bags with an oxygen absorber. Your freeze dryer purchase comes with bags, oxygen absorbers, and a sealer.
